Brunch in Amsterdam: Staring at Jacob
December 26, 2016

Since the beginning of 2016, I have been quite a few times in Amsterdam for work, which led me to sometimes be in that wonderful city on the weekends as well. Who says weekend says, of course, brunch! So when friends of mine told me that they had found a great spot for brunch in Amsterdam, I just couldn’t resist.

First let’s talk about the name of the place: “Staring at Jacob“. This brunch paradise is actually located on Jacob van Lennepkade, facing the Jacob van Lennepkanaal, one of Amsterdam’s famous little canals. It has a nice street terrace by the water, which is the perfect spot for sunny not rainy days.

About the brunch itself, it has everything one can dream of and more! I found happiness in the Brioche French Toast, namely lightly battered brioche, banana caramel sauce, bacon and seasonal fruit compote… Yes, it’s as yummy as it sounds (and looks).

The place is very warm and cosy with some industrial hints here and there, giving it kind of a Brooklyn vibe. Not to mention the staff, all the members are super cool. Moreover, it’s located in a more residential area of Amsterdam, which will lead you to explore neighborhoods you wouldn’t have been to otherwise.

So, next time you’re looking for a good brunch in Amsterdam, don’t forget to go stare at Jacob!
